Masala Coffee was formed in late 2014 in Kerala. It was the brainchild of percussionist Varun Sunil, and the name was chosen to signify the different kind of music the band plays.
Alternate folk rock. The band draws on Indian folk, blues, pop and rock, and performs both original songs and its own arrangements of well-known folk and film music.
