A versatile singer and performer rooted in the rich tradition of Carnatic music, Abhijith Anilkumar has carved a distinctive space for himself through his work across Indian classical, independent, and film music.
His musical journey began at home, where he received his initial training in Carnatic music from his mother, Sreedevi Anil, and learned the mridangam from his father, Anilkumar Pillai. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to learn from several acclaimed musicians and gurus, including Palakkad Sindhu Dileep, Dr. K. Krishnakumar and Binni Krishnakumar, Cherthala G. Krishnakumar, and Palakkad S. V. Ramani. He is currently pursuing Carnatic vocal training under Shri Kunnakudi Balamuralikrishna.
He gained wider recognition as the winner of Mazhavil Manorama's Super 4 – Season 2 and went on to become one of the finalists of Vijay TV's Super Singer – Season 9.
His journey into playback singing began with the Malayalam song "Yaathonnum Parayathe", composed by Kailas Menon for the film Vaashi. Since then, he has lent his voice to several songs across Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu cinema, collaborating with prominent composers including M. M. Keeravani, Vijay Antony, Sam C. S., Jakes Bejoy, Govind Vasantha, and several others.
Alongside his work in cinema and classical music, he continues to explore his identity as an independent artist and performer. He is also a TEDx speaker, drawing on his experiences in music and performance to connect with audiences beyond the stage.
As the lead singer of Masala Coffee, he continues to evolve as an artist while carrying forward the musical traditions that shaped him.
