Keyboards
Pranav K.S. is a keyboardist whose musical journey began with seven years of Carnatic music training under the guidance of Sunad. While studying Carnatic music, his curiosity naturally drew him towards the piano, leading him to spend two and a half years exploring the instrument and developing his own musical language. Much of his keyboard learning beyond his formal training has been self-taught, with YouTube lessons and countless hours of exploration playing an important role in shaping his skills and musical approach.
After completing his sound engineering studies in Trivandrum, Pranav began immersing himself in the world of live music, working with a diverse range of artists and bands. His musical identity has been strongly shaped by artists and bands such as Coldplay, MuteMath, Snarky Puppy, Pink Floyd, Cory Henry, Robert Glasper and Jacob Collier — musicians who constantly push the boundaries of sound, harmony and musical expression.
Before joining Masala Coffee, Pranav was part of several projects, including Pragathi, led by renowned playback singer Harisankar, and Cut A Vibe, which became an important turning point in his musical journey and his approach to sound. He has also collaborated and performed with artists including Manjari and Sreya Jayadeep, and worked with bands and projects such as Tatva, Ektasy and the Arun Alat Project. Each project brought a different musical experience and taught him something new, gradually shaping the musician he is today.
One of the highlights of his journey was performing at NH7 Weekender in Pune in 2019, sharing the festival stage with international acts including Kodaline and Opeth. He has also played at most of the Hard Rock Cafes across India. His journey with Masala Coffee has taken him across numerous cities, countries and stages, making touring an important part of his growth as a live musician.
For Pranav, the keyboard is much more than an instrument. His playing is deeply rooted in sound design and sonic exploration. He loves creating atmospheric soundscapes and experimenting with textures, moving pads, spatial effects and evolving layers that add depth and emotion to the band's music. His fascination with electronic music, atmospheric sounds and evolving textures brings a distinctive sonic dimension to Masala Coffee's sound.
At the heart of everything, Pranav believes that music is the strongest form of magic. To him, music isn't just something he plays — it is one of the purest forms of love.
